Letter to Households for Community Eligibility Provision
Dear Parent/Guardian,
We hope this letter finds you well. We are excited to inform you about an important program available to the Los Nietos School District for the 2024-2025 school year: the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This provision is part of the National School Lunch Program and aims to provide free meals to all students at our schools, regardless of their family's income level.
What is CEP?
The Community Eligibility Provision allows us to offer all students free breakfast and lunch without requiring individual meal applications. This program is designed to ensure that all students have access to nutritious meals during the school day, which can contribute positively to their overall health and academic success.
How Does This Affect Your Family?
- No Meal Application Required: Because of the CEP, you do not need to fill out a meal application for your child(ren) this year.
- No Cost to You: All students in our district will receive breakfast and lunch at no charge.
- No Change to Your Child’s Meal Options: Students will continue to have the same meal options available, including the choice of fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains, and milk.
Why is this Important?
By participating in the CEP, we can streamline the process for families and reduce paperwork while ensuring that all students have access to healthy and balanced meals. This program also helps us better allocate resources and improve the quality of our meal offerings.
What Do You Need to Do?
There is nothing you need to do at this time. Your child(ren) will automatically receive free breakfast and lunch at school. However, if you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to contact the school’s main office or our Nutrition Services Department at (562) 692-0271 ext. 3216.
We appreciate your support and look forward to a great school year, during which we will provide nutritious meals to all our students. Thank you for being a valued part of our school community.
Sincerely,
Nelly Alonso
Director, Nutrition Services
