On October 4, 2017 Aeolian and Rancho Santa Gertrudes Schools participated in the National Walk to School Day by inviting parents and students to walk to school with their school principals. Aeolian Principal Becky Speh and Rancho Santa Gertudes School Principal Octavio Perez joined select staff members, parents, and students in walking to school.
Rancho 5th and 6th grade students joined students from other schools in Santa Fe Springs at the Aquatic Center parking lot and walked together to school with the assistance of the Santa Fe Springs Police Services Department.
The first National Walk to School Day-called Walk our Children to School Day-was held in 1997. Since then, its come a long way to encompass more than 5,000 schools nation-wide participating this year. The Los Nietos School District would like to thank the participants at Aeolian and Rancho Schools for making the Walk to School events successful community building events for the students and parents.
