On November 3, 2016 the Los Nietos School District welcomed Supervisor Don Knabe to the Los Nietos community as he unveiled projects designed to help all residents of the Los Nietos community.
Supervisor Knabe first visited the Los Nietos Middle School where he cut the ribbon on a brand new Los Angeles County Sheriff’s community trailer. Superintendent Vasquez, Trustee Sylvia Monge, and Captain Pat Valdez offered remarks of support and thanks for Supervisor Knabe’s unwavering support of the Los Nietos community. The funding for the mobile trailer was allocated by Supervisor Knabe to aid the L.A, County Sheriff’s department in providing community engagement to unincorporated areas like Los Nietos. The trailer will be used to attend community events, visit various cities to answer questions and hear concerns of the residents, and also help engage the youth of the communities the sheriff department is sworn to serve and protect. The trailer was showcased at the Los Nietos Middle School during the day where community members and students took a tour of the trailer and asked several Pico Sheriffs questions about their job responsibilities and duties.
Los Nietos School District Partners with LA County Supervisor Don Knabe to Provide Community Resources on November 3, 2016
After the ribbon-cutting of the new LA County Sheriff community trailer, Supervisor Knabe, members of the Los Nietos School Board, and Superintendent Vasquez next went to a ground breaking event for the new Los Nietos Community and Senior Center. Because a new Los Nietos County Library is being built on the campus of the Los Nietos Middle School, the existing library is being renovated thanks to an allocation of five million dollars from Supervisor Knabe’s office to help provide an expanded facility for the Los Nietos senior citizen population. The new Los Nietos Community and Senior Center will have a new gym room, expanded meeting rooms with audio-visual equipment, an outdoor physical fitness area where seniors can do tai chi exercises, as well a renovated kitchen area.
Members of the Los Nietos community once again thanked Supervisor Knabe for making the senior center a reality. Supervisor Knabe thanked Superintendent Vasquez and the Los Nietos Board of Trustees for working with his office to help coordinate and support the new county library, community sheriff’s trailer, and new Los Nietos Community and Senior Center for the residents of the Los Nietos community.
