Rancho Santa Gertrudes School Hosts Annual Back to School Night on September 1, 2016

On September 1, 2016 the Rancho Santa Gertrudes School Staff welcomed parents to the annual Back to School Night. Rancho Principal, Octavio Perez, welcomed parents and thanked them for attending the event and taking the time to meet their children’s teacher and learn the grade level expectations for the year.

Joining Principal Perez was Los Nietos Middle School Principal, Shannon Brann Zelaya, who spoke about the quality instructional program being offered at the Los Nietos Middle School STEAM Academy this year. She talked about how the use of technology at the school (Chromebooks, 2 computer labs, iPads, and laptop carts) is utilized to support the delivery of a standards-based curriculum. Additionally, she shared about the extra-curriculular activities middle school students have the ability to participate in: Students Run Los Angeles Club, intramural sports, 7th grade Catalina Island Trip, and the 8th grade Washington D.C. Trip.

After Principal Brann Zelya’s address to the Rancho parents, Principal Perez invited parents to purchase a taco dinner sponsored by the Rancho PTC, visit their children’s classroom, and meet their children’s teacher. Rancho teachers prepared handouts explaining student expectations, grade level standards, and offered ways the parents can partner with the teachers to insure students have a successful school year. Superintendent Vasquez thanked Principal Perez and his staff for once again hosting an informative and well-attended Rancho Santa Gertrudes Back to School Night.
