On June 14, 2016, the Los Nietos School District lost a member of its family, Raymond “Bud” Chapman. Bud passed away at the age of 87 and devoted 40 years of his life to the Los Nietos School District community. A breakdown of his years of service to the Los Nietos School District is listed below:
- Teacher at Los Nietos School (1951-1956)
- Principal of Los Nietos School (1956-1971)
- Principal of Wallace Wiggins and Aeolian Schools (1971-1978)
- Director of Personnel and Operations (1978-1982)
- Principal of Rancho Santa Gertrudes School (1982-1991)
During the District’s 150th anniversary celebration in 2011, Bud was invited to the Los Nietos School celebration and was swarmed by adoring former students and staff. Students and staff clamored to get a picture with their former principal and to tell him how he had positively impacted their life by being such a caring principal. The Los Nietos School District’s Board of Trustees also honored Bud during the 150th anniversary celebration breakfast for his 35 years as a Los Nietos School District administrator.
The Los Nietos School District community would like to extend its deepest condolences to his wife Vivian, daughter Cathleen, and his extended family.
