Dear Los Nietos Parents,
I wanted to inform you of some of the steps we took today to ensure the safety of your children in light of the school closures in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Since early this morning we have been in constant communication with our local policing authorities who assured us that schools in the Whittier area were not a part of the LAUSD threat alert. Parents were notified by phone that all four schools in the Los Nietos school District would be open today. Principals have asked all staff to be extra vigilant and visible around campus. All teachers informed their students to report anything suspicious on or around the school to an adult at school immediately. In addition, deputies from the Pico Rivera Sheriff’s station have been visible around our schools as they support the safety of our school community.
The safety of our students is of paramount importance to our school district and school sites. The District will continue to monitor the situation and will provide parents and staff with additional updates as they become available.
Sincerely,
Superintendent Vasquez
