Rancho Santa Gertrudes and Aeolian Schools Earn Medals at the 29th Annual Science Olympiad on February 28, 2015

On February 28, 2015 Rancho Santa Gertrudes and Aeolian School competed against 60 elementary schools from across Los Angeles County in the 29th Annual Los Angeles County Science Olympiad held at Occidental College. Rancho’s team received a Gold medal and Aeolian’s team received a Bronze medal for their hard work competing in twenty events that culminated in an overall team score.

The Science Olympiad is an international, non-profit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers. These goals are accomplished through classroom activities, research, training workshops and the encouragement of intramural, district, regional, state and national tournaments. The Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous, academic, interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of individual and team events, which students prepare for during the year.

A strong sense of camaraderie existed between the two Los Nietos Schools as they encouraged each other to do their very best. The Los Nietos School District would like to congratulate the students and staff advisors of the medal winning teams from Rancho Santa Gertrudes and Aeolian Schools.
