Los Nietos School District Welcomes Teachers and Administrators from China on February 11, 2015

On February 11, 2015 the Los Nietos School District welcomed Chinese educators from the cities of Beijing and Chengdu as they toured classrooms to learn key instructional strategies that would translate into student success when they return home. The Chinese delegation was most interested in how Los Nietos educators differentiate instruction for students at different learning levels.

In the summer of 2013, Aeolian Teacher, Rick Gallardo, had the opportunity to visit China as part of an invited educational exchange program. Mr. Gallardo and his delegation visited schools, classrooms, and met with Chinese educators detailing the instructional strategies teachers in Los NIetos School utilize with their diverse student body. At the end of his visit he invited them to visit the Los Nietos School District if they ever had an opportunity to come to the United States.

The Chinese delegation during their trip had the opportunity to visit schools in San Bernardino, Little Lake School District, and the Los Nietos School District. Principals Becky Speh and Shanonn Brann Zelaya welcomed the delegation with open arms as they toured classrooms and answered questions. At the end of their site visits they were invited back to the Los Nietos School District for lunch and further dialogue about educational practices both in China and Los Nietos.

At the end of the meeting, Los Nietos educators bid a fond farewell to their Chinese counterparts and extended to them an invitation to return to the Los Nietos School District if ever their schedules permit.
