On November 5, 2015, Los Nietos Board of Trustee, Marisa B. Hernandez, was recognized by the South Whittier School District for being named a California School Employee Association (CSEA) employee of the year award winner for 2014. South Whittier School District administration, CSEA members, and guests honored Marisa at a recognition dinner at Los Altos elementary school. Last August, Marisa received her State award recognition at the state CSEA conference in Sacramento. Marisa who works as a special education instructional assistant in the South Whittier School District is a member of CSEA Chapter 348 and was nominated by her chapter for the award. Through a very rigorous process her application moved all the way to the State level where she was ultimately recognized for the honor of State CSEA Employee of the Year. Marisa is currently working on her teaching credential and looks forward to the day she can pursue her dream of becoming a teacher.
