On December 20, 2014, the Los Nietos School District and the South East Los Angeles County (SELAC) Foundation completed another year of the annual “Feed the Families” program. Over 125 Los Nietos School District Families were invited to the Los Nietos School District Office to receive a bag of donated items including canned groceries, produce, and a frozen chicken. As has been customary in the past few years, district office staff collected the food that was donated by the four Los Nietos Schools and bagged the canned food in preparation for the December 20th distribution.
The Los Nietos School District Board of Trustees, district staff and their families, and community volunteers worked collectively to distribute canned food, produce, and tortillas to the identified families in the district. The families who walked to the event and needed assistance getting their groceries home were given rides to their homes by district volunteers. Additionally, toys were distributed to the families to insure that students would have some additional gifts during the holiday season.
All Los Nietos School District staff and community volunteers were glad to donate their time and wished all Los Nietos Families a safe and joyous holiday season!
