Los Nietos Administrators Welcome New PIH Health Medical Residents to the Los Nietos School District on July 18, 2014

On July 18, 2014, the Los Nietos School District hosted an orientation for the new Presbyterian Intercommunity Health (PIH) medical residents who will be working in the Los Nietos School District during the 2014-2015 school year. As part of the Healthy Los Nietos Collaborative, medical residents from PIH Health have been providing health education (students, parents, staff) and student medical screenings for the past several years. Superintendent Vasquez provided background to the residents about the Los Nietos School District and the positive effects that the Healthy Los Nietos Collaborative has provided within the Los Nietos Community. In addition, senior staff at PIH Health was there to provide information to the residents about how the Healthy Los Nietos Collaborative has been beneficial in preparing the residents to be more well rounded physicians in the Whittier Community.

The residents and Los Nietos staff shared personal experiences about themselves and their backgrounds. The residents who will be working in Los Nietos this year are from different parts of the United States, South Africa, and Myanmar. After the orientation meeting took place, both the residents and Los Nietos staff looked forward to working collaboratively together during the 2014-2015 school year.
