At their weekly parent education class on April 12th, parents expressed their gratitude to Superintendent Vasquez and to the Los Nietos School Board for the opportunity to attend the UCLA tour. Parents described to Superintendent Vasquez how the tour was transformative and how their children wanted to re-dedicate themselves to their studies so they would have the grades necessary to attend a college like UCLA.
A cohort of about 30 parents has met weekly at the Los Nietos School District Office since the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year. The Pro-Edu classes are designed to provide the tools parents need to advocate for their children in the K-12 education system, and prepare them for eligibility requirement to attend college. On April 23, 2014, the Pro-Edu parents who completed all of their classes will hold a graduation ceremony at the Los Nietos Middle School auditorium.
