On September 26, 2013, the 2013-2014 Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year luncheon was held in Universal City. Teachers who were named by their school district as the 2013-2014 "Teacher of the Year" gathered to receive accolades from LA County Office of Education Superintendent, Dr. Arturo Delgado, and a scroll of appreciation from Los Angeles County Supervisor, Don Knabe.
The Los Nietos School District 2013-2014 Teacher of the Year, Monica Quiroz, enjoyed the event and appreciated the company of her husband, Juan, as well as her principal, Octavio Perez, and Los Nietos Superintendent Jonathan Vasquez.
