On May 30, 2013, the Los Nietos School District welcomed over 40 parents to the conclusion of a five-part series on “Active Parenting”. Dr. Maribel Contreras, who is a licensed Marriage Family Therapist at the Pacific Clinics Counseling Agency, conducted all five workshops. The five-part workshops were entitled: The Active Parent, Communication and Cooperation, Discipline and Responsibility, Building Courage, Redirecting Misbehavior, and Teen Focus: Drugs, Sexuality, Bullying and Violence. Dr. Contreras gave certificates of completion to parents who attended all five workshops and to parents who attended four workshops.
Parent education was a central component of the District’s Title III Plan, and the Los Nietos School District was happy to offer free parent education workshops to parents on how to support their students academically, socially, and behaviorally. Sponsored through the Pacific Clinics Counseling Agency, the free parenting classes will be offered again during the 2013-2014 school year to Los Nietos parents.
