On February 13, 2013, the Los Nietos School Board of Trustees recognized over 30 English Language Learners from Ada S. Nelson School who met the Los Nietos School District’s Reclassification Criteria. This year the Los Nietos School District had 105 English Learners meet Reclassification Criteria.
Principal Marla Duncan recognized the students in attendance and presented them with a certificate and a medal of recognition. Additionally, Principal Duncan introduced members of her staff who explained the changes in the English Language Development and Academic Language Development programs this year. Her staff spoke eloquently and passionately about the way they have changed their instruction to meet the needs of the Ada S. Nelson English Language Learners. The Los Nietos School Board was very pleased that so many English Language Learners were able to meet the District’s Reclassification Criteria at Nelson this year.
Following the presentation of certificates, parents were invited to take pictures with their children and share in some celebratory cake in honor of their achievement.
