STATEMENT REGARDING THE SHOOTING IN NEWTOWN, CONNECTICUT

Superintendent Jonathan Vasquez wants to assure all parents and members of our school community that the district’s number one priority is the safety of our students and staff.   Every campus within the district has a school safety plan in place and all staff has been trained in the event of emergencies.  These plans include responding to incidents where students and staff may be in danger of injury.  All of our principals, teachers and staff work daily to ensure the safety of our students.

Although there is no information of any credible threats to the Los Nietos students and staff, the LA County Sheriff’s Department, as our partner, is committed to providing extra visibility and presence around the community to reduce any fears or anxiety related to today’s incident.

The Los Nietos School District has a crisis team to assist students and staff in dealing with the aftermath of critical incidents. On Monday, our team members will be available at all of our schools.   If you feel your child might be in need of additional support, please notify your child’s principal.
