Los Nietos School District Students Selected to Submit Artwork at the Annual Homeland Heroes Luncheon on 11/14/12

On November 14, 2012, students and staff from the Los Nietos School District were guests of Los Angeles County Supervisor, Don Knabe, at the annual “Homeland Heroes” 2012 Public Safety Appreciation Luncheon. This past summer the Los Nietos School District was the only school district in Los Angeles County selected by Supervisor Knabe’s office to submit artwork to be included in the program honoring law enforcement and public safety officials. Superintendent Vasquez expressed his sincere appreciation to Supervisor Knabe’s Field Deputy, Andrea Avila, for giving Los Nietos students the honor of submitting artwork to be featured in the program. Thanks were also given to Principal, Becky Speh, who helped coordinate the artwork submissions at the four Los Nietos schools.

Contest winners and their families were invited to attend the luncheon that had over 700 law enforcement and public officials in attendance. The contest winners were from Aeolian School (Zsateu Bouyer-3rd grade and Melody Trejo-5th grade), Nelson School (Sarah Gonzalez-6th grade), and Rancho Santa Gertrudes School (Evan Martinez-2nd and Makavla Peralta-3rd). Joining the students were their parents, Los Nietos School District Principal’s Marla Duncan and Octavio Perez, Los Nietos School Board Vice-President, Marisa B. Hernandez, and Superintendent Vasquez.
