On October 9, 2012, the Los Nietos School District in conjunction with Presbyterian Community Hospital participated in what is projected to become an annual staff “Health Day”. Presbyterian Hospital’s Careforce One Mobile Health Clinic was on hand at the Los Nietos Middle School giving free flu shots, glucose screenings, blood pressure readings, and giving participating staff members an opportunity to measure their Body Mass Index (BMI). The Los Nietos School District has a community partnership with Presbyterian Hospital and was able to schedule the Careforce One Mobile Unit specifically for the Los Nietos Classified and Certificated staff members.
A major component of the community partnership between the Los Nietos School District and Presbyterian Hospital is working to educate students, staff, and parents on the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. The Los Nietos School Board understanding how hard the staff work educating the students in the Los Nietos School District, wanted to provide an easy way for staff to receive vital medical information while at work. Staff comments after receiving their screenings were extremely positive and appreciative for the “Health Day” that was provided by the Los Nietos School District.
