On June 12, 2012, the Los Nietos School District Board of Trustees hosted the annual Staff Appreciation Day Luncheon held at Clarke Estates in Santa Fe Springs. For the past three years Los Nietos Superintendent Jonathan Vasquez and the Los Nietos School Board have invited all employees to attend a luncheon held in their honor to publicly thank them for collectively contributing to the success of the Los Nietos School District.
In addition to awarding 5, 6, and 7 years of service pins to some truly exceptional teachers, the 2012 Los Nietos Teacher of the Year finalists and winner were announced. Teachers Ruben Sandoval and Claudia Gonzales were recognized as finalists, and Aeolian teacher Diana Mireles was congratulated for being named the 2012 Los Nietos Teacher of the Year. Superintendent Vasquez also presented Principal Amber Lee-Ruiz with an award for exceptional leadership during her five-year tenure as Aeolian Elementary School Principal.
The event was also an opportunity to honor five retirees from the district:
• Arturo Avila- 15 years
• Joe Pantoja- 18 years
• Cirila Villanueva- 27 years
• Maria Muro-41 years
• Daryl Tilton- 43 years
At the conclusion of the event Superintendent Vasquez thanked the sponsors of the event for providing the raffle prizes and wished everyone in attendance a safe summer vacation with their families.
