Whittier Daily News Covers Aeolian School Library Grand Opening on March 2, 2012

On March 1, 2012, Aeolian Elementary School celebrated the grand opening of their new school library. Through the tireless efforts of the Aeolian parents and staff, what was once considered a dream became the reality of a 10,000 book library valued at $75, 000.00. All 550 students attended the grand opening event, which was held in front of the new library. Local dignitaries came to show their support and admiration of the fund-raising and volunteer work the Aeolian community did in order to make their new library come to life. Prior to the official ribbon-cutting, speeches were made by Principal Amber Lee-Ruiz, Superintendent Vasquez, classroom teacher Don Fulton, Whittier Mayor Cathy Warner, parent volunteer Emilio Sosa, students, and representatives from Assemblyman Tony Mendoza’s office and Senator Ron Calderon’s office. Also in attendance was Whittier Councilman Joe Vinatieri and representatives from the “Bring Me a Book Foundation”.

The Aeolian School community is to be congratulated for their hard work and for demonstrating that when the parents, the staff, and the principal of a school work together towards a common goal, great things can happen.
