Los Nietos MIddle School Hosts Spectacular Winter Music Performance on 12/7/11

On December 7, 2011, the Los Nietos Middle School Auditorium was filled with the dulcet tones of the Los Nietos Braves Intermediate Band and the Los Nietos Braves Choir. Additionally, there were many students, families, and district personnel who attended a “Family Taco Night” at the middle school in support of the 8th grade Washington, D.C./New York trip scheduled for spring of 2012. Principal, Jacqueline Cardenas, extended special thanks to Mr. Art Escobedo, Los Nietos Middle School Board Member, who generously donated the funds to bring in a taco vendor. Students sold tickets to the Family Taco Night and for the opportunity drawings. PTC president, Ofie Torres, provided punch and sold cupcakes for an added festive flare.

The event began with Mr. Carey Furnish, Band Director, leading the intermediate band through familiar tunes. Students played tunes that inspired school spirit and are common at football games. They concluded by playing a selection of holiday music.

The LNMS Choir, under the direction of Mr. Evan Mooney (Choir Director) followed the band’s presentation. Students were dressed in
formal performance attire. They looked radiant, were poised, and presented themselves well. Their harmonious voices put smiles on the
faces of guests. During the last song of the evening, choir members pleasantly surprised the audience by surrounding them by forming a
large circle around the seating area, singing directly to them and sending them off with an enthusiastic holiday song.

Making the evening an added treat was the presence of Board Members Ray Chacon and Marisa Hernandez extending warm wishes to the students, parents, and staff in attendance. Mrs. Cardenas extended warm thanks to Mrs. Desiree Chavez, Mrs. Jacqueline Ramirez, Mrs. Cynthia Tortarolo, Mrs. Jessica Sullivan, Mrs. Claudia Fonseca, Mr. Oscar Sanchez, and Mrs. Ofie Torres for supporting a successful fun-filled night!
