At the Los Nietos School Board meeting on October 27, 2011, Principal Marla Duncan presented on the safety and disaster preparation training that took place at Ada S. Nelson School. On October 19, 2011, in preparation for the Great American Shakeout, Nelson students and staff underwent a school wide disaster drill. Principal Duncan presented on the procedures outlined in her school’s Safety Plan, and then displayed a thorough Power Point on the evacuation, search and rescue, utilities shut-off, and dismissal procedures.
The Los Nietos Board was very impressed and asked that Principal Duncan share her Power Point presentation with the other schools in order to demonstrate how a school-wide evacuation drill can take place.
