On September 23, 2011, the 2011-2012 Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year luncheon was held in Universal City. Teachers who were named by their school district as the 2011-2012 "Teacher of the Year" gathered to receive accolades from LA County Office of Education Superintendent, Dr. Arturo Delgado, and a scroll of appreciation from Los Angeles County Supervisor, Gloria Molina.
