On May 6, 2011, the Whittier Daily News highlighted the Similar School Rank of "10" given to Aeolian Elementary and Los Nietos Middle School by the California Department of Education. Los Nietos School District is extremely proud of the accomplishments of the two schools as well the academic accomplishments of its other two schools, Rancho Santa Gertrudes and Ada S. Nelson.
