Los Nietos School District begins Read Across America Celebration on 3/2/11

The Los Nietos School District began the "Read Across America" celebration at Rancho Santa Gertrudes on March 2, 2011. March 2nd is the birthday of children's author Theodore Geisel who is known more commonly as Dr. Seuss. Los Nietos elementary schools will be celebrating Read Across America over the next two weeks as guest readers from the community will come and share their love of reading with the students.

Rancho was pleased to welcome Santa Fe Springs City Councilmember, Juanita A. Trujillo who read to Mrs. Rivera's students. Additional readers included Mr. Jerry Edwards, Santa Fe Springs Literacy Specialist, Julie Broyles from the Los Nietos Public Library, and David Zearbaugh from the Santa Fe Springs Library.

Superintendent Vasquez who also was on campus politely declined the "Green Eggs and Ham" that was offered to him by Ms. Avina's 5th grade classroom.
