                                                                                    Maria Luisa Gamboa

It is with great pleasure that Los Nietos Middle School shares attributes of our stellar Community Service Award recipient, Mrs. Maria Luisa Gamboa. She is a familiar face on our school campus as an instructional aide in a Learning Handicapped Special Education class. She takes great pride in assisting students as they make consistent academic strides and develop social skills that prepare them for successful futures. Of noteworthy mention is her accessibility to students before, during and after school, as she makes personal connections to them through her listening ears, kind heart, mentoring and positive role modeling. She is well respected and promotes the importance of doing well in all life’s endeavors to motivate students.

As an active parent participant in our learning community, she volunteers to serve as a School Site Council, English Language Advisory Council, and District English Language Advisory Council member. She volunteers countless hours, as Parent As Volunteer Educator, to assist with school wide needs in support of students. In addition, her contributions are many as a volunteer on the Sesquicentennial Los Nietos School District Planning Committee to ensure that our Los Nietos community celebrates the rich past, present and future of the oldest standing district in California. In addition, Mrs. Gamboa is well known in the church community as a parishioner of and on call volunteer for Our Lady of Perpetual Hope. Notwithstanding, she makes time to serve as a Girl Scout Leader for Santa Fe Springs to serve as an exceptional role model for young ladies. We are proud to acknowledge Maria Luisa Gamboa as the Los Nietos School District's 2011 WASA Volunteer of the Year.
