LOS NIETOS SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES VOTES TO SEEK A NEW SUPERINTENDENT

WHITTIER, CA - During a special meeting on Thursday, May 19, the Los Nietos School District Board of Trustees voted to end current superintendent Jonathan Vasquez’s contract without cause to seek new leadership.

The District's top priority is the education and well-being of all its students, and the Board of Trustees made its decision with this commitment in mind. The education space has changed dramatically over the past two years due to the pressure and dynamics brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. To ensure Los Nietos School District students continue to receive the highest quality education, the Board felt it necessary to bring on new leadership that could approach the District's challenges with a fresh perspective.

"Mr. Vasquez has done a tremendous job leading the District over the past 13 years, and he will forever have our gratitude. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors. The Board of Trustees plans to make this transition a transparent process and will keep the community informed as we move forward." says Board President Emilio Sosa.

The District plans to communicate with the Los Nietos community as it lays out a transition and search process.
