Measures E and N Information

Dear Neighbors,

On July 22, 2014, the Los Nietos District School Board of Trustees voted unanimously to place Measures E and N on the November 4, 2014 ballot.

Both measures are local, fiscally accountable schools bonds that will help repair and update our elementary schools and middle school. If adopted by voters, Measure E will issue $15 million in bonds at legal rates to help improve Ada S. Nelson, Aeolian, and Rancho Santa Gertrudes elementary schools. Measure N, if adopted, will issue $13 million in bonds at legal rates to repair and improve Los Nietos Middle School.

The Los Nietos School District serves a vital role for our community by providing quality education through its three elementary schools and Los Nietos Middle School. We are committed to improving education for all our students, but our schools have important unmet needs.

Many of Los Nietos’ schools are over 50 years-old, deteriorating and need basic repairs. Additionally, gangs, drugs and juvenile crime continue to be concerns for parents and the community at large. Funds from Measures E and N will help ensures students are safe; fix aging classrooms; and provide a healthy, 21st century learning environment in our schools.

Funds from Measures E and N will be subject to strict fiscal accountability requirements, including Independent Citizens’ Oversight and annual audits. No funds for administrator salaries or pensions.

Please see our Frequently Asked Questions below to find out more about Measures E and N.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Vasquez

Superintendent, Los Nietos School District
