Free Rio Hondo Community Computer/ESL Classes Started On August 24, 2015

On August 24, 2015 the Los Nietos School District in collaboration with Rio Hondo College began offering free Introduction to Computer Literacy classes and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. Last year Los Nietos School District Superintendent, Jonathan Vasquez, and Rio Hondo Community College Superintendent, Teresa Dreyfuss, met to discuss ways to build a meaningful partnership between the Los Nietos School District and Rio Hondo Community College. Superintendent Dreyfuss and her team of dedicated administrators are to be commended for the ways in which they have offered to support the Los Nietos School District community.

Last year Rio Hondo began offering free introduction to computer classes and ESL classes that were held in the Los Nietos Middle School computer lab. Additionally, Rio Hondo College, through their “Adopt a School” program, made the Los Nietos Middle School a school that they would partner with to provide pathways for student success in college and future careers.

This year the computer classes will be held August 24th-December 9th on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:45 a.m-10:00 a.m. The English as a Second Language classes will be held right after the computer classes beginning at 10:00 a.m.-11:45 a.m. and will also run from August 24h-December 9, 2015. For further information about the availability of the classes or future class offerings please contact Jennifer Lee at (562) 463-4606.

The Los Nietos School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent Vasquez would like to thank Superintendent Dreyfuss and her staff for providing such an outstanding educational opportunity for the residents of the Los Nietos community.
