Los Nietos Administrators Plan for Student and Family Health Services on July 23, 2014

On July 23, 2014, Los Nietos administrators conducted a strategic planning meeting with the District’s primary health partners as services for the Los Nietos students, parents, and staff was calendared for the 2014-2015 school year.

Members of PIH Health, the City of Santa Fe Springs, Los Angeles County Public Health, Activate Whittier, Think Together, and the Whole Child Counseling agency were in attendance to listen to the 2013-2014 Los Nietos School District health statistics, staff and student surveys, and discuss future grant opportunities. Utilizing a strategic planner provided by PIH Health, the Los Nietos School District was able to plan steps for the 2014-2015 school year to stabilize and provide additional health services to the residents of the Los Nietos Community.

This year the Los Nietos School District will be providing parents an opportunity one time per month to sign-up for free medical insurance at the school sites. As an outgrowth of the Healthy Los Nietos Collaborative, the Los Angeles County Office of Education health care insurance providers became a new Healthy Los Nietos partner this past year. During the summer parents have been able to work with the health insurance enrollers, and are now eligible to receive health insurance for the first time with their family.

At the conclusion of the planning meeting, Superintendent Vasquez thanked the District’s community partners for their support to the Los Nietos families, and wished them a successful year.
