Superintendent Advisory Team Meets to Discuss LCFF and LCAP Timelines on March 10, 2014

On March 10, 2014, Los Nietos School District Superintendent Jonathan Vasquez convened the first Superintendent Advisory Team (S.A.T.) meeting concerning the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and the new Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) that needs to be approved by the Los Nietos School Board in June of 2014. The Superintendent Advisory Team is comprised of leaders in the Los Nietos Community (Los Nietos Teacher Association, CSEA Chapter #380, School Site Council representatives, English Language Learner Advisory Council representatives, school board members, district administrators, and members of the community. Superintendent Vasquez invited the Los Nietos Community leaders to hear about the LCFF district-wide meetings that will be held at the three elementary schools in the next two weeks.

During the course of the meeting, Superintendent Vasquez explained how the new Local Control Funding Formula differs from the previous State Revenue Limit funding model and that the difference in funding will be chiefly based on the number of Los Nietos students that receive free/reduced lunch, English Language Learners, and foster youth enrolled in the district. Additionally budget projections for the 2014-2015 school year were shared and discussed.

One of the primary purposes of convening the Superintendent Advisory Team with various community stakeholders in attendance is to get feedback from the team about the LCFF and LCAP meetings that will be presented at the school sites. Team members not only gave feedback to Superintendent Vasquez and Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Jacqueline Cardenas, about the content of the school presentations, but also provided feedback on the priorities that should be addressed in the Local Control Accountability Plan. Once the LCFF meetings are completed at the school sites, Superintendent Vasquez will bring the community input to the Superintendent Advisory Team for their input prior to submitting the plan to the Los Nietos School Board.

Los Nietos School District parents and interested community members are invited to attend the three LCFF meetings at Aeolian, Rancho, and Ada S. Nelson Schools on the following dates:
