On April 25, 2013, the Los Nietos School District welcomed 30 parents to the first of a five-part series on “Active Parenting”. As part of the District’s Title III Plan, the Los Nietos School District has created a schedule of parent education workshops to provide parents information on how to support their students academically, socially, and behaviorally. Sponsored through the Pacific Clinics Counseling agency, the free parenting classes will be offered at the Los Nietos School District Office and conclude on May 30, 2013. Superintendent Vasquez and Assistant Superintendent McNeil welcomed the parents to the parent meeting, and thanked them for attending. Dr. Maribel Contreras, who is also a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist at the Pacific Clinics Counseling agency, conducted the April 25, 2013, parenting meeting. Dr. Contreras spoke to the parents about ways to effectively communicate with their children, and was able to answer parent questions in both English and Spanish.
