Independent Study

Overview

During the 2022-2023 School Year Los Nietos School District will be providing an independent study option for TK-12 grade students. This program is available to students whose health would be put at risk by in-person instruction, as determined by the parent or guardian. Independent study programs must meet all of the legal requirements regarding educational progress, grade-level standards, synchronous instruction, student engagement, and transitioning back to in-person instruction within 5 days if the parent/guardian determines that the health risk is no longer a concern.

Independent study programs are an opportunity for students who:

  • Are academically independent, needing little to no instructional support
  • Are motivated and have strong time management skills
  • Are comfortable with less daily social interaction
  • Recognize that they will not have the same access to in-school activities and courses such as athletics, clubs, and certain electives
