On September 19, 2014, the 2014-2015 Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year luncheon was held in Universal City. Teachers who were named by their school district as the 2014-2015 "Teacher of the Year" gathered to receive accolades from LA County Office of Education Superintendent, Dr. Arturo Delgado, and a scroll of appreciation from Los Angeles County Supervisor, Don Knabe.
The Los Nietos School District 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year, Christina Fontenot, enjoyed the event and appreciated the company of her husband, Jarrett, as well as her principal, Becky Speh, and Los Nietos Superintendent Jonathan Vasquez. Additional friends and family (Michelle Sanchez, Rick Gallardo, Marla Duncan, Louella Fontenot, and Rita Morales) surrounded Mrs. Fontenot to help her celebrate her special day.
Adding to the excitement was the unexpected gift bag she won as part of the Teacher of the Year raffle that was held at the end of the event. Christina happily accepted some Common Core material that was donated by Lakeshore who was a sponsor of the Teacher of the Year event.
Later this year Mrs. Fontenot will be addressing all of the teachers in the Los Nietos School District in the customary Teacher of the Year acceptance speech. The Los Nietos School District is proud to have Christina Fontenot be the 2014-2015 Los Nietos School District Teacher of the Year and looks forward to hearing about her philosophy of teaching.
