On July 22, 2014, the Los Nietos District School Board of Trustees voted 5-0 to approve a resolution that would allow two school Bonds totally $28,000,000.00 to be placed on the November 4, 2014 ballot. The two Bonds would allow continued facility upgrades that were begun under the Measure M Bond that was approved by the Los Nietos voters in 2008. Although $31 million dollars was approved in 2008 under Measure M, only $15 million dollars has been accessed due to lower than expected assessed valuation growth rates. It is projected that the Los Nietos School District would not be able to access the remaining $15 million dollars on the Measure M Bond until 2031. The first half of the Measure M Bond was able to pay for exterior facility upgrades at all four schools which included perimeter fencing (adding a single-point of entry for each school), sewer lines, perimeter lighting, and providing new irrigation systems on all school campuses.
The Board voted unanimously to approve the resolution to place two Bonds on the November 4, 2014 ballot so the facility upgrades can continue to take place inside all of the school classrooms as well as provide necessary technology improvements at all four schools.
