Cafeteria Staff Receives Two Days of Training from a Professional Chef on August 7-8, 2017

On August 7-8, the Los Nietos School District Cafeteria Staff received two days of professional development from Cordon Bleu trained chef, Trina Nelson. Chef Nelson spent the time teaching the cafeteria staff safety skills in the kitchen, food presentation, and preparation of new menu items for staff and students. This year healthy "take and go" salads will be featured for staff, to complement the salad bars that are located each day at the four schools in the Los Nietos School District. One of the reasons Director of Nutrition Services, Lenea Pollett provided the staff development to her cafeteria staff is that school menu requirements have been evolving to not only provide healthy, great tasting food, but also to focus on the presentation of the food. Professional Development for cafeteria staff is a USDA requirement. At the end of the two days of training, all cafeteria staff received a certificate to identify their newly trained skills.
