On August 18, 2016 the Los Nietos Middle School celebrated the new school year with a “Back to School Night”, giving families a glimpse into the lives of their students at the Los Nietos Middle School “Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math” (STEAM) academy. The event kicked off with a barbecue for students and parents as well as an information fair on the campus front lawn that was provided by various community and school organizations. Principal Brann Zelaya welcomed parents and was excited to discuss the access to technology that all Los Nietos Middle School students will enjoy this year. All eighth-graders will be using Google Chromebooks that they will keep at school, while seventh-graders will have access to laptops, iPads and two computer labs.
After the principal’s address, parents were dismissed to visit classrooms and hear presentations given by the classroom teachers. Superintendent Vasquez and Los Nietos Board of Trustees Marisa Hernandez and Nick Aquino were impressed with the quality of the teacher presentations, and to hear about the rigor of instruction the Los Nietos Middle School students will be receiving this year.
